James starting playing soccer for Churches Association in Caloundra in 2009 for Caloundra City Soccer Club and played with them for 6 years. The last two seasons James’ team were undefeated Grand Finalists.
In 2022, James took up playing Futsal in Hervey Bay. In 2023, James was in a team that played a few futsal demonstration games one evening at PCYC in Hervey Bay. They played against a team from Brisbane called TAG 5 ALL ABILITIES FUTSAL TEAM.
From that demonstration tournament, James was asked to join TAG 5 as an invitational only player to join them in playing in Sydney for the Australian Titles.
James and one other player from his Hervey Bay team joined TAG 5 and played in the Australian All Abilities Titles. TAG 5 came 2nd overall in Australia. James now has a permanent position with TAG 5 Futsal Team on their touring team. This team travels throughout Australia and attends other countries playing with the All Abilities Futsal tournaments.
James’, All Abilities Futsal team, #RAVENS have played this season at PCYC club and have been undefeated.
They played the Grand final in early September 2024 and won 9-4. James played an amazing game as goalie saving 8 goals. The team played exceptionally well.
In November 2024, James and his TAG 5 team are flying to Malaysia for two weeks for another All Abilities Futsal tournament, where they will be playing other futsal teams from around the world.
The opportunity this presents for James and the others in his team is learning cultural heritage, foods, living arrangements in a different country and developing new life long friends all over the world. James will gain a lot of self confidence within himself and his ability to face challenges.
James absolutely loves his futsal and the experiences he is gaining from these tours is invaluable for him on all levels.
James is a valued member of Hervey Bay Neighbours Aid store and loves being apart of this amazing team of people who do great work within our community and abroad supporting those in need.
