Neighbours Aid proudly supports our project partner, Project Sheba, who are dedicated to uplifting the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel. As the lowest socio-economic stratum in Israeli society, Ethiopian immigrants face significant social and cultural challenges, leading to discrimination, low self-esteem, and high unemployment rates. Children and youth are particularly affected, experiencing family crises and high dropout and delinquency rates.
Through after-school tutoring and mentoring, up to twelve children from low-income Ethiopian Jewish families receive personalised assistance from Ethiopian Jewish tutors in the comfort of their homes. This tailored support helps bridge the social and educational gaps, empowering the next generation to thrive and overcome adversity.
The visionary leaders of Project Sheba inspired us with their commitment to help Ethiopian immigrant children transition from rural life to a new beginning in modern Israel. From the early days of Neighbours Aid, Project Sheba has been a cherished beneficiary, offering after-school tutoring and vacation camps for the emerging generation of Ethiopian Israelis.
Together, Neighbours Aid and Project Sheba are fostering relationships and creating opportunities for success. Join us in supporting the Ethiopian Jewish community and making a lasting impact on the lives of these resilient individuals.
We partner with Global Development Group to support Project B055.
