Neighbours Aid Comes to Hervey Bay!
On Monday August 23 Neighbours Aid Pialba opened its doors with a fantastic group of volunteers supporting our newest manager Gabrielle Kidd. Our retired Nambour manager Luke Zanetti oversaw the set up while his replacement in Nambour, Grant Tracey, spent the week helping out. All of our stores sent truckloads of goods to fill the shop to overflowing, providing lots of great bargains for the local community. We opened our first store in Nambour in 2002. The Pialba store is our eighth and we are looking forward to continuing to expand.
We invite you to drop into our Pialba store at 99 Main St Pialba, next to Chemist Warehouse. Gabrielle is looking forward to welcoming more volunteers, good quality donations and happy customers.
News from Our Kolkata Partners/Crossculture Providing Support for Poor Families During Covid
Our Kolkata partners at Educare/Crossculture and their team have provided 900,000 grocery packs which provide enough staples to feed a family for one month since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Their teams have also provided around 35,000 cooked meals for people living in the slums. They definitely qualify as Neighbours Aid heroes!!
Expansion in Kenya
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, curfews and lockdowns, our Kenyan partners Kitale Family House of Hope have continued to change lives in the Kitale rural slum community. Hope Academy is expanding into Middle School, necessitating more classrooms, a science laboratory and dorms for the boarders.
Our director Edward Khaoya is being honoured by an International University with an honorary doctorate for his work with disadvantaged children. Congratulations Edward.
