Heath Anderson – Neighbours Aid Everyday Hero

Introducing Heath Anderson, one of our amazing Neighbours Aid volunteers. Heath is a 77 years young volunteer who used to come into our Nambour store to buy books. One day he saw the sign inviting people to volunteer. He started to come in for a few hours two days each week but he enjoyed using his handyman skills to help others so much that he now comes in five days a week and stays all day.

Heath and his wife fostered over 200 children, including 50 pre-adoption babies until they went to their adoptive families at 6 weeks of age. Three of the children stayed to join the Anderson’s children. Heath remembers sitting down to breakfast with 8 children, 6 of whom were under 5!!

Heath has known great grief throughout his life but he says that he loves the good feeling he gets when he has fixed something for someone. Thankyou Heath. You are definitely a Neighbours Aid hero!!

Bundles for Babies

Neighbours Aid wishes to thank the NCC Early Learning Centres for their support raising funds for the teen mums in our African communities. Money was sent across to buy baby items and supplies for the many young mums and their babies who face lives caught in the poverty cycle unless they receive support. In Kenya over 80 mums and bubs came together to receive bundles of supplies. They stayed to attend seminars and ended the day with a celebration meal. In Malawi there was a great feeling of celebration and appreciation as the mums came to receive their bundles.
