Volunteers Are Neighbours Aid Heroes

Neighbours Aid celebrates the diverse group of wonderful volunteers who faithfully turn up for work to help us support vulnerable communities around the world. Jimmy is a very special part of the Neighbours Aid Morayfield team.

A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP JIMMY.

Goodbye Leona

We are sad to say goodbye to much loved Morayfield Manager Leona Burnett as she leaves sunny Queensland to move to Canberra with her husband Darren and son Matthew as Darren takes up a posting to pastor a church in the nation’s capital. Leona has been a wonderful part of the Neighbours Aid team, joining us on a number of trips to Malawi as part of the Nambour Christian College teams before becoming one of our managers.

YOUR NEIGHBOURS AID FAMILY WILL MISS YOU LEONA.

Projects Update

While the COVID 19 pandemic has been sweeping throughout the world our partners have been working hard providing support for the most vulnerable families in their communities.

AFRICA – In Kenya staff have been preparing the students for the introduction of Middle (Junior) High School. The farm manager has been busy planting maize, vegetables and bananas. The poultry farm is producing meat and eggs and the students are learning about farming while caring for the farm animals and helping with the growing of the crops.

MALAWI – In Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries, inflation is running at 150% with process of staples tripling in recent times, putting even basic items beyond the reach of many in the community. Neighbours Aid funds continue to support the most vulnerable families, providing food, education and medical care.

INDIA – In Kolkata the teams have been providing grocery packs, cooked meals and blankets to families struggling with the effects of the pandemic, a terrible cyclone, loss of their homes and starvation. The students at the Vijayawada Nursing College have been working in the villages where there is no medical help. A number have caught COVID but all have recovered.

ISRAEL – Our partners in Israel have been dealing with the lockdowns caused by the pandemic. Just as things were returning to ‘normal’ the people experienced 11 days of bombardment by a barrage of rockets sent by the Hamas Terrorist Group in Gaza into civilian areas that resulted in counter attacks into Gaza by Israel’s Defense Force. People on both sides of the conflict have suffered trauma and loss of property.

Natasha Moore – May you have the pessimism to look steadily and unflinchingly at the problems and the optimism to perceive and pursue the opportunities hiding behind them.
