Neighbours Aid working in Kenya

This trip I have been touched by the plight of Kenyan women. I sat in a small 2 roomed mud hut with a group of women yesterday as they shared the challenges they face as women in Kenyan culture. They were touched to think that they were valuable and worthy of being treated with dignity and respect. Their lives are marked by hard work and sacrifice as they care for their families. The rain was pouring down and the red mud roads were becoming impassable as we talked and sang together. The children played in the mud outside as we took African Chai tea, a group of women together talking about our lives. With our Kenyan partners we are committing ourselves to change the lives of these women through education and small business opportunities. 54 treadle sewing machines have been given to ladies in this rural slum community to help them provide for their families. Education and empowerment are key to changing lives for the better.
